L-column2 C8 is a next-generation high-performance octyl-based column that surpasses L-column C8 by minimizing the influence of residual silanol groups by advanced end capping method . Of course it is a durable and easy to use column that peaks are detected sharply. Ideal for shortening the analysis time of hydrophobic substances and saving solvent accordingly.
The cartridge is mounted on the special holder, making it easy to replace the cartridge. There are two types of dedicated holders: direct connection and non-direct connection.
Characteristics of C8 column
■ Short analysis time
Generally, C8 column has lower retention compared to ODS column under the same analysis conditions, so elution time is faster. Hydrophobic substances can reduce analysis time and reduce solvent consumption. Fig. 1 is an example comparing fat-soluble vitamins under the same conditions. Vitamin K is highly hydrophobic and takes a long time to analyze in ODS, but L-column2 C8takes about 1/4 of the analysis time.
■ Separation pattern different from ODS column
Since C8 column and ODS column may give different separation patterns, even if separation is impossible with ODS column, separation improvement may be possible with C8 column. Fig. 2 is a chromatogram comparing antidepressants under the same analytical conditions. The separation of desipramine and paroxetine has been greatly improved.
