The surface of the silica gel is coated with polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)
DAICEL DCpak ® PBT is a column with a higher stereoscopic curling PBT (polyester resin) as the selective agent. The surface of the silica gel is coated with polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). This column is suitable for both SFC and HPLC.
It can be used to separate a variety of compounds centered on aromatic compounds and heterocyclic compounds. It is also suitable for separating compounds and isomers with different degrees of unsaturation. Example: Suitable for the separation of cis-trans isomers, caffeine-related compounds, and aromatic-substituted isomers.
Solvents that can be used are, for example:
Main mobile phase: CO 2 . Methanol is used as a mobile phase, and ethanol, isopropanol, ethyl acetate, tetrahydrofuran and dichloromethane can also be used as the mobile phase.
- As a modifier, methanol is standard, but ethanol, 2-propanol, ethyl acetate, THF, dichloromethane can also be used.
- When using the modifier of the same volume ratio, the retention time is generally 2-propanol> ethanol> methanol, and the stronger the sample, the stronger this tendency appears.
- Generally, the higher the modifier composition ratio, the shorter the retention time.
- It is also possible to use modifiers mixed with multiple solvents as shown above. Adding a small amount of alcohol to an aprotic modifier sometimes makes the peak shape sharp.
- The above modifier addition ratio is a standard. Please note that the column pressure becomes very high if the modifier ratio is high.
