Your pet relies on you!
ATAGO'S urine specific gravity meter enables you to quickly detect small changes in your pet's health in an easy way!
There's no need to put pressure on the bladder to encourage urination or use a catheter.
Just use the natural urine sample!
Urine Specific Gravity Scale
The scale used for dog and cat urine specific gravity is based on the scale mainly used in the United States.
* Please note that it does not match the specific gravity value when measuring liquids other than urine.
Correlation Changes Depending on Animal Type
The specific gravity correlation with refractive index changes depending on the subject. There are different scales for human, dogs, cats, and more.

The relationship between pH and health issues:
Struvite Stones
When urine pH becomes alkaline, there is a posibility of struvite bladder stones due to crystallization of phosphorous and magnesium.
Calcium Oxalate Bladder Stones
When urine pH becomes acidic, there is a possibility of bladder stones due to crystallization of calcium.
The relationship between urine specific gravity and health issues:
A higher than normal value
If the urine specific gravity value is higher than normal value, thers is a possibility of diabetes and dehydration.
A lower than normal value
If the urine specific gravity value is lower than normal value, there is a possibility of diabetes insipidus, which means the kidney is not able to properly concentrate urine.

This unit is a urine specific gravity refractometer programmed with the specific scales for both dogs and cats in one unit. Simply place 0.3mL of the sample (urine) on the prism, press the start button and a digital measurement value will be displayed in 3 seconds. This compact-sized, 11cm unit is water resistant so it can be washed under running water after each reading. | The PAL-USG (DOG) is designed for measuring Urine Specific Gravity for dog. | The PAL-USG (CAT) is designed for measuring Urine Specific Gravity for cat. | PAL-Rabbit is designed for measuring Urine Specific Gravity for rabbit. Measurement time is 3 seconds. This is waterproof that can be wash away with water after use. | |

How to Easily Collect Pet Urine
Owners might wonder how to get urine from pet. It's easier than it seems!
Use Paper Cups
When your pet urinates, put a paper cup under him/her.
Use A Vinyl Sheet
Prepare a vinyl sheet on pet's litterbox and collect the accumulated urine.
When using a vinyl sheet, adjust amount of litter and the position of the vinyl sheet so that they do not mix together.
Use a Litter Box System
Fill the uppper part with litter and keep the lower box empty or place plastic wrap for easy cleanup.
Common Questions
How much urine do I need to test?
Only about 0.3ml is needed per measurement!
Place the sample on the sample stage and measure.
What is the warranty of the device?
Manufacturer's Warranty is 1 year, but can be extended to 2 years if registered!
Can I measure U.S.G of a cat's urine with a dog device?
The scales for dogs and cats are different, so please use a dedicated equipment for each
What should I do after measurement?
Clean the area around the prism and sample stage with rubbing alcohol.
Health Care Costs at Pet Hospitals
Taking your pet to the veterinarian means paying various fees for medical exams, admissions, treatment, surgery, and more.
And those veterinarian fees tend to be expensive!
Also, if your pet develops kidney desease or other issues, there is no full recovery, so long term treatment is needed.
There is data that shows veterinarian costs to be around $3,000 annualy !
It is said that 80% of older cats develop kidney diseases, so it is important to
check their urine on a daily basis.
Learn About Urine pH
Kidney stone disease is when solid kidney stoness are created in the kidney, urinary tract, or bladder.
These can block the urethra or damage both the urethra and bladder.
There are two typical types of stones that are common in cats: "struvite" and "calcium oxalate".
They occur when there is an increase of minerals such as magnesium, phosphorous, calsium, and an unbalanced urine pH.
Manage your pet health by measuring urine pH regularly!
Normal Urine pH Range:
pH is represented on a scale from 0-14.
When pH is lower than 7, it is closer to acidic, and conversely, when pH is higher than 7, it is closer to alkaline.
