*Please Note: There is a gap between the edge of the SBS40 and the SBS40/4 to allow excess steam to escape and condensate to fall back into the bath. This is a design intent and not a fault as a leak-tight seal would create an unsafe pressure chamber.

A water bath with integral shaking, a choice of the platform* is available to provide linear or orbital shaking action. The platforms require no special fitting and use strong magnets, which couple to the drive unit underneath the stainless steel tank. Vessels are securely held in place on the stainless steel platforms by a series of high-tension springs, which will accommodate almost any size and combination of vessels. The heater is mounted underneath the tank to allow easy cleaning. A low-level water sensor causes a warning to flash on the display to indicate when the water level is low, cutting power to the heater to prevent the bath from boiling dry. A drain is also incorporated to aid the emptying of the bath. The platforms will accommodate the following Erlenmeyer flasks: 8 x 250ml, or 6 x 500, or 4 x 1000ml capacity.
The speed and temperature controls are easy to use. The shaking speed is adjustable and electronic feedback control ensures accurately maintained speed. The water bath temperature is set and monitored via the easy-to-read LED display. In addition, the design incorporates an over-temperature protection system that tracks the set temperature and controls the heater in the event of a fault. The minimum set temperature is 10°C.
A range of stainless steel accessories is available designed to accommodate popular tube types ranging from 1.5ml microtubes up to 50ml centrifuge tubes. A choice of cover is also available, designed to reduce heat loss and evaporation in either stainless steel or plastic. The polycarbonate cover allows the cover to be hinged on either side of the bath depending on working conditions and preference.
