Atago 4251 PAL-SALT Mohr, Digital Pocket Salt Concentration Meter, PAL Series, Salt Concentration 0.00 to 10.0% (g/100g) Measurement Range
For Measurement in the Weight/Volume Ratio as in Titration (Mohr Method)
PAL-SALT Mohr gives a reading similar to those obtained from the Mohr’s method (titration). Like other ATAGO salt meters, PAL-SALT Mohr utilizes conductivity to measure samples. This unit also features an offset function which allows for readings to be compensated based on known standards.
Conductivity can be measured either by the 2-AC bipolar method or electromagnetic induction method. The bipolar method measures the current that passes through the solution between a pair of electrodes. The electromagnetic induction method measures the induction current generated by two coils immersed in the solution.

PAL commitment
A new ergonomic design for comfort and ease of use! In pursuit of an "easy to use" , "easy to operate" and ergonomic architecture of new instruments, ATAGO has achieved a "palm fitting" masterpiece as well as unit that is high in hygienic properties. By reducing the number of unnecessary assembly parts, we have reduced the risks of a germ reproductive environment. Through our efforts to produce a hygienic instrument to be used in any industry, these units are designed to be completely washable. The new PAL series has been approved by the HACCP, and are equipped with the new ELI feature, which ensures accurate measurements - even outdoors. Requests from our customers worldwide are reflected in the development of the new PAL units
ATAGO Releases NFC (Near Field Communication) Equipped Refractometers
In addition to the Bluetooth enabled refractometers, ATAGO ® released refractometers with near-field communication (NFC) technology for the ease of storing and sharing data with phones, tablets, laptops, and other NFC-equipped devices. Simply by tapping NFC-equipped devices, up to 100 measurement data with the date and time are transferred in a matter of seconds. The NFC solution is simpler and prevents typical human errors in data collection and data generation.
With ever evolving movement of profound change in how human interact with machine automation, this upgrade seizes one’s time to write down measurements with a pen or paper.
How to Use NFC Feature on PAL:
Step 1) For cellphones, download NFC reader app or turn on the NFC feature. For computers, connect the NFC reader.
Step 2) Place NFC reader to the PAL device.
Step 3) Download data.

To ensure accurate measurement results, the PAL is programmed with the ELI function which displays the [nnn] warning message when intense direct light is detected. Forming a habit of shading the sample stage with your hand and re-pressing the START key (when the warning message from the ELI function is displayed) will ensure accurate measurement results each time |

Mode H™ : Mode H enables to measure the sample at high temperature in 2 seconds. |
Common Applications
- Checking the brine content in Smoked Salmon (requires sample preparation with distilled water)
Long-lasting salt meter - Durable titanium electrode
Uses a titanium electrode that is highly resistant to corrosion from saltwater and seawater. Long-lasting and durable. Is not damaged by friction and can withstand harsh usage in the kitchen or at factory sites.
Stable reading - Apply just a few drops of sample on the sample stage
Salinity can be measured by placing a few drops of sample on the sample stage. The measurement stability is not affected by substances containing oil or substances at a high temperature. Measuring without inserting the salt meter into the sample is more sanitary.
Easy calibration for reliable results - Zero Setting & Reference Setting
One press of ZERO buttons to zero set with air. Additionally, 2.50% saline solution allows for testing a known point. Unlike disposable salt meters, the PAL-SALT gives reliable stable measurement results.
Why measure salt content?
Adding salt is one of the most critical processes in food manufacturing as it has a significant effect on the colour, taste, and texture of food.
ATAGO salt meters are ideal for quick and easy salinity checks on the production floor.
Recently, in addition to use in the production are, many companies are validating our salt meters as the preferred method in a lab setting as well. Food scientists are choosing to limit the use of precipitation titration with harmful sliver nitrate (Mohr's method).
Because ATAGO salt meters are sage, fast, and simple.
Due to the difference in measurement principles, reading from the conductivity salt meters may not match up exactly with the reading by titration for certain samples. However, by creating a conversion table between the two testing methods, the correlation between the set of results can be seen.
Unlike titration, no expensive and harmful chemical is involved in the measurement process.
ATAGO delivers a revolutionary salinity measurement solution that is both eco-friendly and cost-effective.
