"Dip," "touch," "stir!" The simple and convenient measurement methods of the PEN Series now include a unit equipped with the Baume scale. The tip (sample stage & prism head) of the PEN is made out of SUS316, making it highly resistant to corrosive, salty samples.

Sodium chloride is the chemical name for salt. Sodium is an electrolyte that regulates the amount of water in your body. Sodium also plays a part in nerve impulses and muscle contractions. Sodium chloride is used to treat or prevent sodium loss caused by dehydration, excessive sweating, or other causes.

Baumé degrees (heavy) originally represented the percent by mass of sodium chloride in water at 60 °F (16 °C). Baumé degrees (light) was calibrated with 0 °Bé (light) being the density of 10% NaCl in water by mass and 10 °Bé (light) set to the density of water.
